You may have noticed that our fire pumps are meet the requirements of UL (Underwriters Laboratories). We wanted to clarify what this means for anyone unfamiliar with this classification.
First, it’s good to know that Underwriter’s Laboratory has been in business for a long time. In 1894, William Shields opened the Underwriters electrical office, and on March 24 of that year, the office conducted its first non-combustible insulation test. Since then, UL has grown steadily and expanded its services in many different fields.
UL’s focus is strictly on the security of manufacturers, retailers, consumers, et al. involved in UL Mark products. UL is certified for safety testing by OSHA and provides a spread of inspections, training, and other services designed to assist make the planet a safer place.
In the field of fire engines and pumps, our suppliers, like Lubi, seek to meet and exceed the standards that UL has developed and exceeded. UL standards define the requirements for these items:
Commitment
Building
performance
NFPA 20
Simply put, UL means that a manufacturer can make products that meet UL’s requirements. This means you can be sure that the fire pump and motor are working when you or your customer need it most.
